Olivia Rodrigo’s ‘The Cure’ takes over the Grammy Museum
What happened
Time Out Los Angeles, dated Monday, Aug. 31, 2026, says the Grammy Museum is about to put the music video for Olivia Rodrigo’s “The Cure” on the floor as an exhibit. The show is titled “Olivia Rodrigo: the cure unraveled.” Public dates are Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2026, through Feb. 22, 2027. Admission on the Time Out card is $22.50, free for members, at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles. Gerrish Lopez’s piece is a walk through the props, not a review of the album. The album attached to the single is You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love. The video, directed by Cat Solen and Jaime Gerin, drops Rodrigo into a handcrafted hospital where she operates on felted human hearts inside the “OR.”
Production designer Liam Moore built that world almost entirely by hand, Time Out says, out of cardboard, paint, miniatures, and stop-motion, and those exact sets are what visitors will walk. Highlights listed on the page: the nurse costume worn on set, the miniature OR, animatronic beating felt hearts, original storyboards, handwritten process notes, hand-stitched album packaging artwork, interactive photo-op sets, and unpublished set photography. That is a craft show built around one clip. The cardboard operating room is the headline object.
The calendar has a second door. Time Out says the exhibition kicks off with a sold-out launch on Sept. 1 — this Tuesday — with a live performance and a conversation about the album to benefit the museum’s music education programs. Waitlist is the consolation note. An expanded second chapter with never-before-seen career artifacts is promised for early fall 2026. This filing is the museum week, not a tour diary. Daisy Chain Fields gets one clause in Time Out as the festival she had just led; it is not the exhibit.
Why it matters
Pop exhibits work when the objects are actually the video, not a hallway of plaques. Time Out is selling the chance to stand inside the handmade hospital and look at the felt hearts, the costume, and the notes. That is a music-museum beat: how a clip was built, then how a museum stores the build. The Sept. 1 launch is the education-benefit night that sold out. The Sept. 2 public opening is when the rest of the city can buy a $22.50 ticket. Those two dates are the news. The comic uses a stylized cartoon brunette in a yellow cardigan and a cartoon nurse display, not a celebrity portrait.
The strip’s four rooms match the page. Museum doors and a banner. Cardboard OR and beating felt hearts. A case of costume, storyboards, stitches. A sold-out Sept. 1 stage with a music-education jar. No politics. No awards-show argument. Just the Grammy Museum putting a video’s shop on view through February.
Conclusion
“The cure unraveled” opens to the public Sept. 2 at the Grammy Museum, runs through Feb. 22, 2027, and started the week with a sold-out Sept. 1 conversation for music education. Time Out listed the cardboard OR, the felt hearts, the nurse costume, and the $22.50 ticket. The strip is the banner, the hearts, the case, and the sold-out sign.
