Culture and Curiosity

Miley drops “Bass Persuades,” the title track with a Mert Alas video

What happened

Miley Cyrus released “Bass Persuades,” the title track and first single from her coming album of the same name, on Sept. 4 alongside a choreography-heavy music video directed by Mert Alas, The FADER reported. The album is due Sept. 18. Coverage described a dark-pop turn with dense verses about surrendering to the night, and a video that puts the cartoon-energy of a night out into austere, leather-clad dance frames. The FADER also noted collaborators flagged for the album era, including Model/Actriz and Andrew Wyatt.

Live plans are attached to the rollout. Miley is booked for two October shows at the Hollywood Bowl, with Amex and other presales stacked ahead of a general on-sale. For a culture desk, the package is the single, the video authorship, the album date, and the Bowl return—not a track-by-track review of a record that is not out yet.

The strip keeps a cartoon stand-in only. No celebrity portrait attempts.

Why it matters

Title-track singles are calendar stakes. They tell fans what sonic lane an album wants to claim in the two weeks before release, and they give editors a clean object: one song, one video, one date. “Bass Persuades” is being framed as club-forward after stretches where Miley has toggled rock, country, hip-hop, and pop. Whether that frame holds will be clearer on Sept. 18; Friday’s job was to put the clip and the date on the board.

The Hollywood Bowl booking matters for the live story. A legendary outdoor room in her industry’s hometown turns a streaming drop into a ticketed autumn event, with presale choreography that is now as much a part of pop rollouts as the video premiere itself.

Conclusion

“Bass Persuades” is out with a Mert Alas video, the album lands Sept. 18, and the Bowl dates sit in October. Full-color strip, cartoon stand-in. Source: https://www.thefader.com/2026/09/04/miley-bass-persuades-music-video
